BROOKPORT, Ill. (WJPF) – After about a four day closure due to freezing on the bridge deck, the Brookport Bridge is again open for travel.

The bridge, which has a metal road surface instead of concrete or asphalt, closed last Wednesday due to snow and ice freezing on the bridge deck. It reopened Sunday afternoon.

The bridge was built in 1929 and carries about 5,000 vehicles across the Ohio River each day.
