CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) — Multiple people were hurt in an alcohol related crash in Carbondale Saturday.

Carbondale Police say the at fault driver was travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Route 13, in between Giant City Road and Reed Station Road, just before 4:30 a.m. when they hit a westbound vehicle head on.

The at fault driver was cited for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. As of Saturday afternoon, they remained hospitalized.

A passenger in the at fault vehicle suffered life threatening injuries. They were taken to a St. Louis hospital. All of the other people involved in the crash received non-life threatening injuries.

None of the involved parties are being identified at this time.
