After a Week 2 where each game seemed to be either a heavy-hitting matchup or a blowout, the biggest game – #4 Nashville @ #5 Carterville saw an exciting game that the Hornets eventually won 41-27.

That win pushed the Hornets to the top of the rankings, garnering a first place vote and jumping up to #2 in the region.

Carbondale tumbled down from #2 to #6 after suffering their second loss of the season.

Entering the Top 10 for the first time is Mt. Carmel, edging Murphysboro out.
