SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WJPF) — Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul says his office is partnering with the FBI to start a task force on unemployment fraud.
Reports of benefits fraud have been widespread, both in Illinois and across the country.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the fraud likely due to a large corporate data breach and is not the result of any state system security failure.
In the meantime, Raoul encourages Illinoisans to closely monitor their credit reports and closely review and monitor all financial accounts for any suspicious activity.
