CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois University head coach Danielle Kaufman has announced the addition of two student-athletes that have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at SIU beginning with the 2021-2022 season.
Signing NLIs with the Salukis are Morgan Gindler (Kirkwood, Mo.) and Kylee Vaughan (McLeansboro, Ill.).
“I couldn’t be more ecstatic to have both Morgan and Kylee be a part of the program,” said head coach Danielle Kaufman. “They’re both really good kids that give their best. These two are going to be great additions to the team.”
Morgan Gindler / Kirkwood, Mo.
Morgan Gindler attends Kirkwood Senior High School in Kirkwood, Mo. Gindler finished tied for 10th at the MSHSAA (Missouri State High School Activities Association) 2020-2021 Class 4 Tournament.
“She’s a good player with a lot of potential,” said Kaufman. “Her ceiling is high. She has a bright future at SIU.”
Kylee Vaughan / McLeansboro, Ill.
Kylee Vaughan is a senior at Hamilton County High School and was named The Southern Illinoisan’s Girls Golfer of the Year in 2019. Vaughan’s accomplishments include regional & sectional championships her junior year and is a three-time medalist at the Black Diamond Conference Championship.
“Kylee is one of the top golfers coming out of high school from southern Illinois,” said Kaufman. “She’s local, a competitor, and we are extremely lucky to have her.”
