CARMI, Ill. (WJPF) — A pair of Carmi men are dead after a high speed crash Monday night.
It happened at about 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Fackney and Fifth Streets in Carmi.
Police say the car was possibly doing over 100 mph when it crashed into a tree. The impact of the crash sent debris, including the engine and a wheel, flying through a nearby fence.
The 29-year-old driver and a 21-year-old passenger were both pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been released.
Alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.
