CALUMET CITY, Ill. (WJPF) — Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul is calling for police officers to be licensed by the state.
Speaking Saturday at the South Suburban Day of Action in Calumet City, Raoul said under his proposal officers that were repeatedly cited for misconduct could could have their state license taken away and would no longer be able to work in law enforcement in Illinois.
Raoul said his proposal would be “the type of policy change we need that will bring real consequence to bad actors, that will get around collective bargaining agreements, get around provisions that we have in local and state law that make it such that people are afraid to report incidents on police.”
