PERRY COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) — Perry County Sheriff Steve Bareis is clarifying his statement on future enforcement of Governor JB Pritzker’s stay at home order.
In a follow-up post to social media Wednesday night, Bareis said his remarks were aimed at protecting religious freedoms and was based on the recent citations issued to church members for attending a drive in Easter service in Kentucky.
Bareis says common sense is needed to maintain safety and security and he does not sanction civil defiance or the disregard of the governor’s orders.
