SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (IRN) — The Illinois House was unanimous in passing a bill to allow recipients of food assistance to use those funds when purchasing eligible items online.

House Bill 3836 would start a pilot program for people part of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, to purchase from eligible online grocery retailers.

The measure is now up to the state Senate.
