Rep. La Shawn K. Ford (D-Chicago)

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (IRN) — If you intentionally misrepresent an animal as a service animal, a proposed bill would lead to a petty fine.

Chicago Democratic state Rep. LaShawn Ford’s House Bill 3905 passed out of committee and would levy up to a $1,000 fine.

If enacted, that fine would be transferred to the State Treasurer and deposited into the Service Animal Training Fund.
