MURPHYSBORO, IL. (WJPF) – Charges have been dropped against Gaege Bethune, the Eldorado man accused of murder in the death of Pravin Varughese.

Prosecutors say the decision was based largely on Judge Mark Clarke’s decision in September to vacate Bethune’s conviction on murder charges due to what he referred to as wording in the indictment that could have been confusing to the jury.

Bethune may face new charges in the future if prosecutors can provide a grand jury or judge enough evidence to indict him again.
