A Southern Illinois man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for shooting a Mississippi County, Mo. sheriff’s deputy.

38-year-old Jonathan Lee Jones pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and discharging a firearm in a drug trafficking crime.

Jones reportedly shot Deputy David Watkins on March 10, 2017, after Watkins attempted to execute a search warrant at a Missouri apartment.
