Giving his first State of the University Address, newly installed SIU Chancellor Carlo Montemagno said that the school must have a clear vision of the future.
To Montemango, that vision starts with making the school more efficient. Programs with low numbers will be taught out and duplicate offices will be merged together. It’s estimated those changes could save the school over two million dollars.
Montemagno also addressed enrollment and suggested hiring a new associate chancellor whose sole focus would be on enrollment could help combat the decline.
Also announced in that address, the University Museum, which was closed due to budget cuts a few months ago, is to be reopened.
