A Marion man has been sentenced to thirty years in federal prison on charges of distribution of cocaine.
According to a release from US District Attorney Donald Boyce, 30 year old Tyree Neal, Jr was involved in the selling of cocaine from 2012 to 2014, selling to numerous confidential sources working for law enforcement during that time.
In September of 2014, authorities attempted to arrest Neal, but he fled, and led officers on a high speed chase at speeds of over 100 miles per hour before crashing his vehicle. He then carjacked a van, occupied by a young woman and three children, before being apprehended by authorities.
Additional evidence also showed that Neal attempted to arrange to have certain witnesses who had cooperated with authorities killed.
He is classified as a career offender. His sentence was enhanced based on his violent past.
