Democratic State Rep Scott Drury says he will be dropping out of the gubernatorial race to run for attorney general.

Before becoming a state rep, Drury was a federal prosecutor.

He said Tuesday that Illinois needs an attorney general who is fiercely independent, adding that he’d step up the offices focus on fraud and corruption.
