A victim has been identified and an arrest has been made in that investigation into burned remains found in Carbondale this summer.

Carbondale Police say 22 year old Tiesha D. Anderson of Collinsville put the body of 39 year old Robin Stief of Mount Vernon into a trash can in a wooded area off East Main Street near Piles Fork Creek.

Anderson is charged with one count of concealment of a homicidal death.

Stief’s family and friends had been searching for her since August 25, when she was first reported missing to police in Mount Vernon. Police say the family told them she was mentally disabled.

Carbondale fire fighters were called to the wooded area behind the Midas auto shop on the morning of Aug. 30 for an active fire. When it was put out, they discovered Stief’s body.

Anderson is being held in the Jackson County Jail with bond set at $750,000. Police say this investigation continues.
