JACKSON CO- Police have arrested one man and are searching for two others involved in the shooting at a party in Carbondale.
On Sunday, March 27, Carbondale Police responded to a call of shots fired at 402 West Walnut Street. Upon investigation, police found that an altercation had occurred inside the house, leading to the gunfire.
Police found one man with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The unnamed victim was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale and later transferred to a St. Louis area hospital.
After searching the area, police also found a man who had been shot inside a home nearby. Timothy Beaty, 41, a local musician of Carbondale was found inside the house and had been hit by a stray bullet. Beaty was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale where he was pronounced dead. Reports state Beaty was not involved in the party.
Dwayne John Dunn Jr, 21, of St. Louis was arrested and charged with one count of reckless discharge of a firearm. He is currently held at the Jackson County jail on $500,000 bail. He is scheduled for court on Tuesday, March 29 at 1pm. Police are also looking for two black males who are believed to be primary suspects.
The Jackson County Coroner’s Office is conducting a forensic autopsy.
