Union County is the latest in a growing list of Southern Illinois counties suing the state of Illinois. State’s Attorney Tyler Edmonds said Wednesday that the county will file a suit similar to those filed the past week by Franklin and Williamson counties – seeking reimbursements for certain salaries that state law mandates be paid monthly.

The state has not made the reimbursement payments since it started operating without a budget on July 1.
