Illinois’ Attorney General said Wednesday that daily fantasy betting is illegal gambling under state law.

Lisa Madigan’s decree was in response to two Chicago area lawmakers who appear to be working on legislation banning popular Internet  sites such as DraftKings  and FanDuel.

Two states – New York and Nevada – have banned the sites. Illinois Democratic Rep Mike Zalewski said he favors a bill that would provide consumer protections but allow Illinois residents to continue to use the fantasy sports sites.
