CHICAGO (AP) — Illinois’ attorney general wants the Justice Department to investigate whether the Chicago Police Department’s practices violate federal and constitutional law. AG Lisa Madigan made the request in a letter to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

Federal prosecutors are already reviewing the fatal shooting of a black 17-year-old who was hit 16 times by a white officer. Police Commissioner Garry McCarthy was dismissed Tuesday by Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
