Plans to regulate daily fantasy sports websites and add consumer protections have been introduced by an Illinois legislator who says the state should be at the forefront of the new and emerging industry.
Under the plan filed Tuesday by Rep. Mike Zalewski using sites like DraftKings or FanDuel won’t be considered gambling.
The legislation also bars anyone under 18 from playing and fantasy sites to check players for child support or tax liens.
Meanwhile, the Illinois Gaming Board has said it’s seeking further review of the websites in Illinois in light of Nevada regulars ordering them to shut down.
