A report of a woman being raped led to a Jefferson County School being locked down temporarily yesterday.

Jefferson Co. deputies responded to a report of a woman screaming that she was being raped at the abandoned Dix Lumber Yard. A man had supposedly threatened her with a gun and attacked her, before leaving the area.

Rome Grade School in Dix was placed on lockdown due to its close proximity to the location.

Police eventually found the man and arrested him. He is incarcerated in the Jefferson Co. Jail.
