Construction will be beginning on a section of Interstate 57 in both Union and Pulaski Counties.
Beginning at 1 pm Friday, traffic on I-57 from the Interchange with IL Rt. 146, to the Dongola Interchange will be shifted to the southbound lanes.
Vehicles will be traveling in one lane of traffic on both sides for that stretch.
The traffic is being shifted so new concrete can be laid down in the Northbound lanes.
Construction will also be taking place on IL Rt. 13 in Carterville.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane on Rt. 13 eastbound from Greenbriar Rd. to Main St. while crews install traffic signal loops at the intersection with Division St.
The same work will begin in the westbound lanes this coming Wednesday.
