Herrin Hospital has announced a $23.7 million modernization and expansion of surgical services. The hospital received unanimous support for the expansion from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.
The addition will include seven new operating rooms, which will consist of replacing four existing operating rooms, and the addition of three new operating rooms. The project also involves replacing a prep and phase 2 recovery area, as well as a replacement of endoscopy and minor procedure rooms, which will be combined into a single unit.
Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in August with a fall 2017 completion date.
