Illinois has hit a record-breaking number of crops this past year.

According to the USDA, the state has harvested more than 200 bushels per acre for corn and 50 bushels per acre for soybeans.

Last year, in 2013, Illinois had a yield of 178 bushels of corn per acre and 49 bushels of soybeans per acre.

The reason for this rise in yields is due to improvements in technology, genetics, and farm management.
