Murphysboro residents and businesses will see a long-awaited project come to fruition.
The City Council approved a $1.1 million construction project aimed at widening 7th St. by 20 feet. City officials reportedly wish to begin immediately as the city funds are already in place.
The city will also be making repairs to nearby water lines, and will end up paying ¼ of the total project cost, estimated at around $300,000.
City officials are hopeful they can break ground on the project this year.
