On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a bill which will allow for better access to mental health care for veterans.
The Clay Hunt SAV Act will allow for increased access to mental health care, create a pilot program to repay the loan debt of students in psychiatry so it may be easier to get more psychiatrists at VA medical centers, as well as boost the accountability of mental health care by requiring an annual evaluation of practices at individual VA centers.
The Marion VA will be hosting a Run as One event on March 28th. The goals of the event are to build communities around veterans, taking a proactive approach to veterans’ service, and raise awareness of the challenges, and propose solutions to the issue of veteran suicide.
