MARION — Former Pulaski County State’s Attorney Grayson Gile, of Goreville, Illinois, is facing domestic battery charges.
Marion Police Chief Dawn Tondini says her department responded to a domestic call in Williamson County around 9:30 on Wednesday night.
Tondini states that Gile was not at the scene when police arrived but he did meet with officers later and was arrested.
Gile is charged with two counts of domestic battery for hitting his girlfriend-Melissa Parker of Marion- with a fork and a plate and grabbing the woman’s fingers and bending them backward. He was taken to the Williamson County Jail where he posted $500 bond and was released.
A motion for a special prosecutor to avoid conflict of interest was granted by Judge John Speroni.
Gile stepped down as Pulaski County State’s Attorney on December first. He served as Pulaski County’s top prosecuter from 2000-2008, and from 2012 to his recent retirement. He states he had notified county board leaders in November that he would be leaving due to health reasons.
