A sales tax increase has been proposed in Franklin County which would be implemented to fund renovations to the county courthouse.
County officials say the building is in dire need of work, and county leaders favor a quarter-cent tax hike in order to pay for it.
An open house is expected to be scheduled within the coming months to receive public input on the proposed changes to the building. The board will vote on the increase on Tuesday, January 20th. If it is approved, it will be placed on the April ballot.
