A Murphysboro Alderman has been sentenced to time behind bars after pleading guilty to charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and aggravated battery.

Prosecutors say 47 year old Ronald Nolan held a woman against her will in his car, and sexually abused her while travelling through areas of Jackson and Union Counties.

Nolan pleaded guilty in exchange for having six other charges dropped, among them kidnapping, aggravated assault, and trying to escape from his jail cell.

Nolan is sentenced to 9 years behind bars, along with two years of mandatory supervised release. Nolan also must register as a sex offender.
