Residents of Sesser are upset after an audit found almost $1m in misused funds.

Citizens had a chance to grill city officials about it at a meeting last night.

Mayor Jason Ashmore said that no further funds will be spent without a thorough review by auditors, city officials, and then Ashmore himself.

Ashmore contacted the State Police and Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s office. However, a letter from the Attorney General’s office claims they don’t have authority to pursue a case against anyone.
