Several officers were hurt after an assault at the Vienna Correctional Center Wednesday.

An inmate struck an officer in the face during cuffing, after the inmate refused a direct order from the officer. A second officer was hurt trying to break up the incident. Two lieutenants administering OC spray also had to be treated after the wind blew spray into their eyes.

The first officer suffered cuts, but the second officer damaged his wrist.

The inmate has been transferred to the Shawnee Correctional Facility.
