A man has pled guilty to the charge of first degree murder in relation to a fatal Randolph Co. fire in May of 2013.
According to the Southern Illinoisan, 34 year old Derrick Twardoski pled guilty to setting a fire which took the lives of four Percy children; 12 year old Ethan Owen, 9 year old Kailey Owen, and 5 year old twins Brandon and Landon Owen.
A plea agreement reduced the charges to a single count of murder, according to Randolph County State’s Attorney Jeremy Walker.
A sentencing hearing is set for October 3rd, and Twardoski could receive the maximum sentence of 60 years behind bars, with no chance for early release.
