The unseasonably warm temperatures brought heavy rains and high winds to the area yesterday, causing downed tree limbs and power lines – particularly in Perry County.

The damage there was centered around the Red Hawk Golf Club on Illinois 154, where downed power lines closed the road for several hours Wednesday afternoon.

Ameren Illinois said about 2,000 people in the Southern Illinois region were without electricity for part of the afternoon.
