The question of whether or not Marion Police Officer Angelo Hightower can be on the force and serve on the City Council has been answered.
The Southern Illinoisan is reporting that Williamson County Judge Brad Bleyer ruled in favor of the city of Marion, basing that ruling on a previous ruling in Tinley Park, where an officer was elected to village board, as well as a state statute prohibiting officers from holding other offices.
Hightower was on the Marion Police Force for 15 years.
