Springfield, Ill. – A state lawmaker is stepping down, one is removing himself from the ballot and another has been appointed to fill a seat that’s already been vacated.

Chuck Jefferson, a Rockford Democrat, has held office since 2001. He announced his resignation Wednesday. Republican State Rep. Josh Harms from Watseka announced he is removing himself from the ballot and won’t seek a second term in November.

Sheri Jesiel from Winthrop was sworn into office by a Lake County Judge yesterday afternoon. Antioch Republican Representative JoAnn Osmond submitted her resignation last week.
