West Frankfort, Ill. – UPDATE, 10:19 a.m.: West Frankfort Police say four-year-old Logan Adams died in the crash Sunday afternoon.

The West Frankfort Daily American reports seven children were in the roadway as the car approached, and they all moved out of the car’s way.

But Adams walked back into the street and was hit.

The car was reportedly going three miles per hour at the time of the accident.

ORIGINAL: Authorities are investigating a pedestrian crash that killed a four-year-old boy.

West Frankfort police say it happened on the 500 block of North Van Buren Street, between Fourth and Fifth streets, around 4:30 p.m.  Sunday.

A female driver has been identified, but the name has not been released, nor have any charges been filed.

The name of the boy is also being withheld, pending family notification.
